Sometimes we get e-mails from
frustrated Punto Cabrio-owners who're complaining there's not enough on the market for
their car. Well, in some ways they're right, but still... There's enough
material on the market for someone who wants to his car fabulous.
CARZONE
Take a look at this version
tuned by Carzone. The most beautiful thing I like about it is the rear bumper.
Allthough one double exhaust pipe in the middle would be beautiful to but
that's just my opinion.
When
we take a look to the front of the car, we notice a very large air shaft.
This could come in very handy
if you want to put a much larger intercooler into your engine. If you can, take a
close look to the interior. We couldn't find any pictures on their website about
this, but I think it's leather.
NOVITEC
Novitec
provides typical German tuning-kits... I was going to say "not much exterior
tuning" but that would be kinda wrong.
A rigid look for this Punto
but gladly Novitec provides a lot of engine tuning.
The strenghtening-tube
protects the engine in a serious car-accident which could be very handy sometimes.
The engine tuning Novitec provides can give your engine 228bhp! But offcourse only
if you have a GT-engine.
tuned by Novitec
They
modify your cylinders and your turbo from a regular 1.4 GT with 133bhp to 228bhp.
The turbo-pressure will reach 1,3bar. Top-speed will be 250km/h
(157miles/h)... 0-100km(62m) in 6,1seconds!
When you're Punto has his
engine tuned by Novitec, you will be able to let some M3's behind you...
But you can tune your engine
even higher. We saw a Punto GT with 700bhp at a meeting in Imola, Italy last year.
CADAMURO DESIGN
Cadamuro
Design, which got famous from the F50-bonnets, has worked on a serious collection of
aerodynamic parts for Fiat Punto.
The only pictures we found of
a Punto Cabrio tuned by Novitec were some pictures we took at Cressiers, Suisse at FM
Evoluzione. This first picture is really dark but you can see the beautiful
wheels on it. Reminds me of an American Pinto, like the one in Boyz N' The
Hood...

As far
as we know you can't buy these rear-lights. The owner did it himself with some
kind of paint, developped especially for rear-lights.
ABARTH
A lot of people, including us, didn't know Abarth
developed a special for Fiat Punto. We found this information on a Polish website
with some pictures.

AUTOTEST
AutoTest,
an Italian tuner, provides products for Punto that are made only out of plastic.
Which comes in very handy when you drive to fast over a speed bump and break for example
your front-spoiler.
When
you open the box of the AutoTest-article you bought, you'll find next to the article a
manual for attachment and a big tube of glue.
The
Punto AutoTest created has skirts which looks a lot like the one Carzone created.
AutoTest is one of the few tuners who has designed eyebrows in two pieces.
FIAT PUNTO II CABRIO
Last year Fiat existed exactly 100 years and over all those years
Carrozzeria Pininfarina (before Farina) designed a lot of models for Fiat.
It designed the 124 Sport
Spider (1966), the Dino Spider (1966), the 130 Coupé (1971) and the Fiat Coupé (1994),
see the picture at the left for the Fiat Coupé designed by Pininfarina.
What else could Pininfarina
give to Fiat for his 100th birthday? It took the latest model Fiat constructed and
started working on it. The result was a beautiful little convertible.

They give it the name
"Fiat Punto Cabrio Wish". Why is it called Wish? Well, maybe because
Pininfarina will celebrate it's 70th birthday in 2000 and it could be their wish to
produce the Punto Cabrio Wish...
